The Urban Initiative is the launch of a strategic effort to reach the unreached within Portland in hard-to-reach urban environments—places where people are generationally removed from church and have never experienced the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It is in these difficult places that we are focusing on planting missional, neighborhood-centric, reproducing churches that become the delivery system for hope, life, and transformation. When one of these missional communities is established in a neighborhood, all of life in that neighborhood—and ultimately, all of Portland—will benefit.

Mark and Tracy Seger continue the Urban Initiative’s mission right here in Portland, Oregon. Mark shared with us what God is doing, and it is inspiring! They have partnered with many organizations across Portland to bring resources to this hurting city. Just this past week, they partnered with Portland Christian Center to distribute over 1,000 boxes of fresh food to low-income buildings in the urban core. When the 52’ semi-trailer of food arrives it is divided between three trucks. One goes to Portland Christian Center for the drive-through food distribution and to outfit partner churches. Two others go downtown to be distributed to our at-risk neighbors. |

ONE THOUSAND EIGHTY boxes of fresh food are distributed to households in need EVERY WEEK! Since the FDO started, we have distributed enough food to provide over 67,000 meals. That includes twenty-five low-income apartment communities; six partner food organizations and seven partner churches. Praise God for a shared, Kingdom of God, effort! |

Throughout October they will be distributing over 1,000 food boxes each week to families in need. Incredibly, the demand continues to grow as more and more households are reaching out for food help. Please keep this in your prayers, as well as the prayer requests listed below:
His Kingdom come; His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven! |
